ερμηνεία νόμου περί σημάτων

The new collective work on the Interpretation of the Law on Trade Marks (Law 4679/2020) has been published by Sakkula Publications. Yannis Psarakis, a partner of the Law Society, participated in the writing of the work, together with the most influential academics and practitioners in the field of Trademark Law in Greece. As stated on the publisher's website 'The publication of an article-by-article interpretative work on Law 4679/2020 became imperative after the significant changes it brought about in trademark law with its passage. The new Trademark Law is a sophisticated and modernised piece of legislation, which, in addition to transposing the provisions of Directive (EU) 2015/2436, has also adopted for the national trademark certain provisions of Regulation 2017/1001 on the European Union Trademark. This publication is comprehensive and constitutes an indispensable practical tool that contributes to the understanding of this complex area of law, which is predominantly shaped by case law. The negative consequence of this is that there is no complete legal certainty as to the judicial outcome of cases, partly due to the vagueness of central concepts. Greek case law of recent years has, however, responded satisfactorily to the increased demands of the sector and therefore particular emphasis is placed on its analysis. The work begins with an extensive introduction that contributes to a better understanding of key concepts and issues raised for the first time with the implementation of the new law. This is followed by a listing of all articles with an exhaustive presentation of theoretical and case law approaches. Each article is accompanied by a separate glossary index which contributes to the increased usability of the work. The contributors to the volume have expertise in trade mark law and extensive practical experience, which gives the work a high degree of validity. Their contributions are of high quality and their importance is not limited to the specific context of trade mark law. The main burden of the whole organisation was borne by the assistant professor of the Department of Trade Mark Law. Professor Christos Chrysanthes, who is the author of the new law on trade marks. 4679/2020, while the coordination was also actively contributed by Prof. Dr. Chris H. Chryss. Professor Iakovos Venieris and Associate Professor Iakovos Venieris, who is also involved in the coordination. Professor Efi Kinini'.
